Madrid & central Spain
3–5 days dedicated · 6–11 part load
Apartment living, narrow lifts and city parking restrictions. Madrid’s low emission zone affects the vehicle and the delivery hours.
Spain is the longest of our regular road routes and one of the most popular. One crew loads at your door in Britain, drives down through France or takes the ferry to Santander, and unloads at your door on the coast or in the city.

A move to Spain is a two-to-three-day drive with mandatory rest stops, or a ferry crossing that saves the drive through France. Either way the goods stay in one sealed vehicle from your door to the new one.
What makes Spain demanding is the documentation. Spanish customs expect your NIE, your padrón certificate and evidence of residence before they release the goods under transfer of residence relief, and several of those take weeks to obtain. Start them first.
Loaded at your door · Across the Channel · Unloaded at the other
Door-to-door transit times from UK collection, with what to expect at the delivery end. Dedicated vehicles are at the quick end; part loads wait for a scheduled departure and share the journey.

3–4 days dedicated · 5–10 part load
The quickest Spanish run via France. Old-town streets in Barcelona and Girona often need a smaller vehicle and an exterior lift.

Alicante, Benidorm, Jávea and the inland villages. One of our busiest part-load routes, with regular departures.
4–6 days dedicated · 7–12 part load
Villas on steep urbanisation roads and apartments with community rules on moving hours. We check both before the date is set.

Seville, Granada and the white villages. Historic centres are frequently closed to heavy vehicles, so a shuttle is priced in advance.
By arrangement
The Balearics are served by ferry from Barcelona or Valencia. The Canary Islands sit outside the EU VAT area and have their own import rules, so they are quoted separately.

Transit times are typical, not guaranteed. Drivers' hours are regulated, so longer runs include mandatory rest, and customs clearance is usually a matter of hours when the paperwork is right.
Road freight is priced on the space you occupy in a vehicle and the distance it drives. Volume decides which makes sense.
A full house · your load only
The vehicle carries nothing but your belongings and drives straight to your new address in Spain. Fastest, with fixed dates for loading and delivery. Usually the right answer for a three-bedroom house or larger.
A flat or part of a house · shared vehicle
You pay for the space you use and share the journey with other consignments heading the same way. Considerably cheaper, with a delivery window of a few days rather than a fixed date.
A few boxes or a single room
Students, second homes, a room of furniture for a relative. We consolidate these onto our scheduled Spanish runs.
When the dates don't line up
Completion dates and visa appointments rarely line up with a UK moving date. We hold goods in containerised storage in the UK and deliver when you are ready.
Spain applies the EU transfer of residence relief through the Agencia Tributaria. The rules are common across the EU; the Spanish documents are what take the time.
We prepare the export and import declarations and the valued inventory. Several of the documents below can only be issued to you personally, so start them early.
Customs and immigration requirements change. We confirm the current position for Spain at survey and give you a written checklist before anything is packed.
Spanish deliveries are shaped by heat, hills and community rules as much as by distance.
Quoted as one price, delivered as one service. Anything not on this list is named in your quotation rather than discovered later.
Yes, in practice. The import declaration and the relief claim are made in your name and the NIE is how Spanish customs identify you. Without it the goods can wait at the border or in storage.
The ferry from Portsmouth or Plymouth to Santander or Bilbao avoids around 1,500 km of driving and suits northern and central Spain. For Catalonia and the east coast the drive through France is often quicker. We price whichever makes sense for your address.
Meat and dairy products from the UK cannot enter the EU, including the opened packets in your kitchen. Alcohol must be declared and is outside the relief, so duty is payable.
We arrange vehicle transport alongside the move. Registering a UK car in Spain involves an import declaration, a technical inspection (ITV) and registration tax, and the cost can be significant. Ask before you assume it is worth bringing.
The Canaries are part of Spain but outside the EU VAT area, with their own indirect tax and import procedure. We move there regularly, by road to a Spanish port and then by sea, and quote each move individually.
Volume first, then distance, then whether you need a dedicated vehicle or can share one. Use the volume estimator on our home page for a sense of scale, then let us survey and quote in writing. Our prices page explains what goes into the figure.
Tell us where you're heading and roughly when. A consultant will come back within one working day to arrange a survey.
